FAQ on Base Station Positioning

How to use base station positioning?

You need to apply for a token- QuecLocator Base Station Positioning Token Application Guide, and then call cellLocation to implement base station positioning.

Base station positioning principle

The principle of base station positioning is to determine the location of the device through signal interaction between the base station and the mobile device.

How accurate is the base station positioning?

Positioning accuracy depends on the density of network units. The more base stations, the more accurate the location information will be. Under optimal circumstances, the accuracy is around 50m.

Reasons for base station positioning failure

Check the error code for failed positioning and investigate based on it.

  • 1- Failed Initialization
  • 2- The server address is too long (more than 255 bytes)
  • 3- Wrong key length, which must be 16 bytes
  • 4-The timeout duration is out of range, the supported range is (1 ~ 300) s
  • 5-The specified PDP network is not connected, please confirm whether the PDP is correct
  • 6-Error in getting coordinates.

Can the official base station positioning of Quectel be used abroad?
